Thrilled that a peer reviewed study using Coprata’s  Smart Toilet is published in a prestigious medical journal, Neurogastroenterology & Motility with the title “Long-term, automated stool monitoring using a novel smart toilet: A feasibility study” (link).

This work leverages our Smart Toilet with the capability of automated monitoring of stool appearance. The study was designed to demonstrate how we can help healthcare providers in obtaining objective information on bowel characteristics while reducing the burden of patients to self-report.

This work was a collaboration with Dr. Luo, Director of Research at the Center of Gastrointestinal Physiology and Motility of Mt Sinai, New York; with contributions from our advisor Dr. Jose Ruiz, GastroHealth; and with engineering experts Dr. Jin Zhou, Dr. Julia Darcy, and Dr. Kyle Lafata from Duke University.

This study was funded by a grant to Coprata from the National Institute of Health.
